What Just Happened?

I can not believe that I'm typing this....but I've done it. I've cut my thumb on salsa. Not salsa dancing...not cutting up salsa ingredients. Last night while opening the jar, I cut my thumb on the hardened salsa around the lid. Gross. And weird.

I did try to google up some funny picture using the keywords "killer salsa", "dangerous salsa" and "sharp salsa". To no one's surprise I didn't find anything that fit. Haha.

Enjoy this first Monday after DST. I'm sure you are all as sleepy as we are in the Johnson household. Note to self: no more naps the Sunday of DST. It WILL make bedtime difficult. But on the bright side (literally) today should be beautiful. Enjoy!

Blog Hiatus

I'll be back...I promise!!

I know it's been a lengthy while since I've posted on the blog. Times are busy, and I took 5 days off work to spend with Ava and get some holiday prep done. That included a week off from blogging. But I've got some new things to add to the blog...including dr visits, cute pictures and holiday updates. Yay. In the mean time, here's a funny picture to give your Monday a little giggle. :)

Land of the Lost

I've been wracking my brain lately over what and how to write up my blog post on our surgery experience. I'm torn.

We tend to be private, and keep details pretty contained to a tight inner circle until we are ready to share, if that ever happens. But I'm truly afraid if I don't write it down, I'll forget. And I don't want to forget. I also want some other scared, angry, confused mommy (or daddy) like me to find our story and find some helpful information. To deal with a difficult situation, I research, research and research...and sometimes cry in the bathroom, haha. But I mainly try to prepare myself via knowledge. So if I can give someone some insight into what to expect, then it'll all be okay. I'm working on finding the happy medium of "not too much, not too little". Maybe I'll find that place soon.

I've gone back to work this week, so maybe today, tomorrow or sometime this weekend I can sit down with a glass of wine and a snoozing baby and turn the jumbled mess of memories and emotions in my mind into something beautiful that I can look back on and appreciate. Maybe. Last night, I told Wynston I'm just ready for life to feel normal again. And I asked him when that day would come. We're not sure yet.

So, I didn't come here today to bring everyone down on a wintery Friday morning. I really just came to stop in, say sorry for the post delays, and that I'm working on it. And to add some Funnies to the page to celebrate Friday. Here you go.

Lol! Hoodie for baby and momma! Seriously...would you hate me?! It's so hilariously bad, yet functional!!

Totally what I needed to see after a horrible, no good day yesterday. Luckily a few good things happened as well. Here's the breakdown:

Bad: Had a bad dream about my upcoming work day. It turned out to be a premonition...one of those awful days at work where NOTHING goes right.

Good: My high chair arrived and was delivered...thanks Mom and Grandma Day!

Bad: I took Ava to the WalMart to pick up her shopping cart cover (!) and grocery shop. I left the carseat in the car because...we'd pick up the shopping cart cover. Although my tracking email said the package had been shipped to the store, I found out it was really in the truck for that night's unload and wasn't available yet. It was beyond gross outside, so I padded Ava into the shopping cart using canvas shopping bags and a blanket, and seatbelted her in. It worked. And yes...I just said I PADDED HER IN WITH SHOPPING BAGS.

Good: Some stranger (to me) brightened my day with kind, thoughtful words said to me in the checkout line. Turns out she recognized Ava from a recent breakfast outing with Grandma Cheryl.

Bad/Good: I bought a can of French Onion Dip Pringles last night.

Anywho...today is a new day and this hoodie totally made me giggle.

Because this is one of those mornings where I need a good laugh and thought maybe you all do to!

We got a LOT done this weekend, including finally hanging some (but not all) pictures up in Ava's nursery. I'm hoping to get some photos of that and doing a nursery post later this week.

That wasn't a fart...

We've officially started on solids....this day may be right around the corner!

We are also shopping for the right high chair. Something with a decent price point, a washable chair pad and dishwasher safe tray. Any suggestions?

This is one I'm looking at ...cute, wonderful price, converts to a fun little table and chair...but Ava already has a nice wooden table and matching chairs, and I don't want our house being overrun with toddler size tables! TWO TODDLER TABLES TAKING TWOVER!  Sorry, that was bad...

Post Season

Inspired me...

If you're gonna get kicked out of a game, you might as well do it the right way! Ha! Because who doesn't love baseball pants. ;) Fun cheesy fact...Wynston and I started dating during his sophomore year baseball season. Soo long ago. So the Cardinals may be 12 in 12, but we're finishing up year #13!

Back to the subject Casey...guess I'd better give up my early bedtimes for a couple more weeks now that the Cards won their Division Series. Go Red Birds! Wynston is holding out for a Cardinals vs. Yankees game.

Anyway, I'll be back soon with a 5 month post, since Ava turned 5 months yesterday. Today, we are enjoying the cloudy morning and getting ready to head into town for a few errands. Not gonna lie...venturing out with Little Miss can still be a big job...but this girl needs some formula and we may go peek at a few Halloween costumes.
