My Princess and Her Frog

Look who showed up to play. I couldn't resist getting out Ava's little light up squishy pink frog, who just happened to be sitting nearby. And yes, Little Miss is down to diaper-only....hey, it's been HOT here, and sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

See it?

"Better wash all those froggy germs off here in this cooler."

My Little Pink Flamingo

Hi all. Ava and I recently survived 8 days without Wynston. And there was no cell service where he went. It was time for his bi-annual fishing trip to Canada, so we stocked up on easy to make meals, some pool toys and baby leashes (just kidding) and survived this adventure! It was easier than I anticipated. Not that Little Miss is a terror or anything, but she IS a giant bundle of energy these days. I'm pretty proud to admit we only had one meltdown during this time...on a rainy morning, where Ava grabbed my pen while I was making a grocery list and marked on the couch before I could get it away from her. I was mad; she was mad that I was mad. But it wasn't anything a spritz of hairspray (why?! I still don't get it) and a good nap for Ava couldn't fix.

Anywho...we made a couple trips to spend time with my parents while Wynston was away. One of those trips happened to be on Father's Day. Yes, Wynston was gone on good ol Daddy's Day. But we sent him off with a tote packed full of goodies (remember these? they were gooood) to help him celebrate from afar.

Meanwhile, back home we celebrated Father's Day at my brother's house. Here are some pictures from the day. Isn't that romper adorable?! Little Miss has several shirts featuring flamingo's. Unfortunately most of them are too big to wear right now - I thought Ava would be in a solid 18M size by now, and she's just not. Oh well, there's still lots of summertime left to grow into those shirts.

She rarely misses an opportunity to point at a "BUHRD"

Lots of fun with cousins.

A little sleepy.

Fun sliding with Poppy.

Sharing with Lily

Ava won't yet share with other babies super well. But she is almost always willing to give you or your dog a bite of what she's having...be it ice, cheerios, or a binky.

"Hey Lily, want some ice? It's my favorite right now!"

"How about a cheerio?"

"Good right?!"

Father's Day Goodies

Wynston will be fishing this Father's Day. So, I started cooking and packed him up some goodies. Included in this box-o-yummy was Bacon Jerky (weird), chocolate covered pretzels, Whoppers, Cheddar Pringles, Cheddar Goldfish, smoked almonds, homeade spicy crackers (so strange and addictive!), homeade no-bakes, and homeade Reese's Pieces Chocolate Cookies. I was soo unsure about these cookies when I made them. The recipe is so simple, and the batter is so STICKY! It just wadded up into a giant ball of chocolate. Getting the Reese's added in was the ultimate arm workout. :p But I've been told they turned out good. So try them! Beyond easy to make...just a cake mix, oil, eggs and Reese's.

Little Foot

Remember Little Foot?! Haha, total 80's kid movie reference right there!

I believe that I'm living vicariously through Ava's shoes. But tiny baby shoes are just soo darn cute. Here are some of my current favorites:

Puma's Aunt Carly got Ava last Christmas. They finally fit and Ava is obsessed! She's obviously so enamored, we had to put them on and stare at them before even brushing our hair after a bath.

clear jellies, of course
pink jellies too
fun red sandals
silver shoes that go with almost anything

reliable pink polka dot shoes with good soles. good for walkin.

trusty camo shoes

I just ordered a cute pair of purple shoes, with heart cutouts. They're not a sandal, not a jelly. They haven't arrived yet, but I'm sure you'll be seeing them soon! :)

A Wedding in the Woods

Saturday we traveled to Blackberry Creek Bed and Breakfast for a wedding of some close friends. Words cannot describe how beautiful this wedding and it's setting were. The ceremony was held on a deck tucked right in the trees, the wedding was full of coral accents, lovely flowers and wonderful food. And of course, good company and lots of laughter.

Little Miss really wanted to participate in the dancing. She'd make herself right at home on the middle of the dance floor, study the dancing moves and try so hard to mirror them. There were also several stumps around the edge of the dance floor (used to hold floral arrangements during the ceremony), that Ava and a cute little 18 month old boy loved playing like a drum. He was really sweet, and gave our girl several big smooches.

My Dancing Bug!
That evening, Little Miss traveled home with her Gamma and Gampa Johnson in their '69 Chevelle, and Wynston and I stayed at the B&B. The night was so relaxing, all gathered around a firepit. The next morning we woke to a rainy morning tucked right into those trees. We sat outside drinking coffee, and then were treated to a large breakfast to fuel us all up for the day ahead.

It was a lovely wedding, and a perfect fit for this couple. I'm so glad we were able to participate in the celebrations.
